A. Yes, preparations are compounded under strict fda, state & federal guidelines.
Q. Can a child or hospice patient take compounded prescriptions?
A. Yes. Compounding is unlike the "one size fits all" approach of traditionally mass-produced drugs in that it allows the Pharmacist and Physician to formulate a recipe that fits the individual patients needs.
Q. Is there compound prescriptions for animals?
A.Yes, compounding has become very popular recently due to the advent of flavor choices such as beef, chicken, fish and liver. This has allowed us to make more palatable options for our furry friends.
Q. Can you make compounds out of chemicals that are no longer commercially available?
A. Yes, as long as the chemical is still approved for use by the FDA, then we can compound it.
Q. Does it take long to make a compound?
A. It depends how extensive the recipe is. The average compound takes about one-half hour to prepare.
Q. Do compounds require special equipment to prepare?
A. Yes, many compounds require specialized equipment and training to prepare. Our pharmacy staff utilizes top-of-the-line equipment to prepare all of our compounds and are required to stay abreast of all the latest techniques and standards of our practice.
